Privacy is the foundation of BlaBlaType. Your voice and the text it produces are processed 100% on your Mac and are never sent to us. This Privacy Policy explains the limited data we do handle when you visit our website, create an account or buy a plan, why we handle it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. It applies to the BlaBlaType app and the website at blablatype.com.

1. Who we are

BlaBlaType is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us about any privacy matter at [email protected].

2. Privacy by design: what stays on your Mac

Speech recognition and AI cleanup run locally on your device. The following never reach our servers and we cannot see, store or access them:

• your microphone audio and any audio files you transcribe;
• the transcripts and text the app produces;
• your custom dictionary, text replacements and prompts.

Keeping this data on your device by design means the most sensitive information simply never leaves your Mac.

3. Data we collect

When you use our website, create an Account or buy a Plan, we may process:

• Account data: your email address and basic account details;
• Payment data: processed by Stripe. We receive limited billing details such as your Plan, country, and partial card information, but we do not store full card numbers;
• Licensing data: a device or license identifier used to enforce per-Mac Seats;
• Communications data: emails and support requests you send us, and your marketing preferences;
• Usage and technical data: limited, largely aggregated information such as IP address, device and browser type, and basic site interactions, used to keep the website and Service running and secure.

4. How we use your data

We use the data above to:

• provide, operate and maintain the Service and your Account;
• process payments, manage subscriptions and prevent fraud;
• enforce licenses and Seat limits;
• respond to your support requests;
• send service and, where applicable, marketing communications;
• keep the Service secure and improve it;
• comply with our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

5. Marketing communications

If you create an Account or give us your email, we may send you marketing emails about BlaBlaType, such as new features, tips and offers. You can opt out at any time using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by emailing [email protected]. We will still send necessary service messages, such as receipts and security notices, while you have an Account.

6. Legal bases

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: performance of a contract (to provide the app and your Plan); our legitimate interests (to secure, support and improve the Service, and to send relevant updates); consent (where we ask for it, for example for certain marketing or optional cookies); and compliance with legal obligations.

8. Sharing and subprocessors

We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share data only with service providers who help us run the Service, under appropriate agreements and only as needed:

• Stripe (payment processing and fraud prevention);
• Cloud hosting providers (to run our website and account systems);
• Email providers (to send service and waitlist or marketing messages).

We may also disclose data where required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety and property of BlaBlaType, our users or others.

9. International transfers

Some providers may process data outside your country or region. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, to protect your data.

10. Data retention

We keep Account and billing data for as long as you have an Account and for as long as needed to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations. We keep support communications for as long as needed to handle your request and for our records. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

11. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited data we hold, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but keeping audio and transcripts on your device by design removes the most sensitive data from our systems entirely.

12. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any right, email [email protected]. If you are in the EU, EEA or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are a California resident, we do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and you may exercise your rights without discrimination.

13. Children

BlaBlaType is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

14. Third-party links

Our website and app may link to third-party sites and services. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and we encourage you to review their policies.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the date above and, for material changes, take reasonable steps to notify you.
